VOSLOORUS POLICE CRACK DOWN ON BURGLARIES
A recent surge in burglaries has prompted Vosloorus police to launch a targeted operation to apprehend suspects and prevent further crimes. These attacks have been becoming more frequent as of late, the suspects mostly targets small businesses which have no security company protecting them and also well off households. The police of Vosloorus has set out to patrol amongst the Hotspots of these criminals.
Between July and September, 15 residential burglaries were reported in the area, with stolen goods valued at over R100,000. This raised a lot of commotion and uncertainty amongst the community, they felt unsafe. And so they took matter to their own hands as they started to open their own community forum which will patrol all night looking out for such incidents. The actions of the community is what got the police to stand up and take charge before the community takes the law into their own hands.
“We take these incidents seriously and are working tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice,” said Captain Mpho Mabitsela, Vosloorus Police Station spokesperson. The police promise to be doing everything in their power to bring back the trust the community once had in them. Investigations are underway and they keep updating the community leader of the progress that has been made. The police say they are doing this to show their dedication and hardwork to the matter at hand and to also minimize the chance of community attacks. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
“The community’s cooperation is crucial in combating crime,” said Mabitsela.
